Napa Police are required by law to announce that there will be a DUI checkpoint, but are not required to disclose the actual location.They do state that they will be somewhere in the area of a “high number of alcohol-related collisions have taken place”.

According to the Napa Police department, DUI checkpoints have been proven to lower the fatality rate from drunk driving. Their goal is to get unlicensed drivers and impaired drivers off the road.

In an interesting twist…The Napa County DUI Task Force is promoting a message that “a person’ s blood alcohol level cannot be “felt” and that individuals  under the legal limit of .08 can still be arrested for alcohol related driving offenses”.

Although blood alcohol content is affected by an individuals body weight. food, medications, tiredness, and a host of other factors. The Napa Police department is looking for anyone who has been drinking.

The best way to avoid a Napa DUI arrest is to not drink and drive. Have a designated driver or call a cab. The cost of a DUI is expensive and embarrasing.
